Storm Damage Pics

I have not had much to blog on lately - so I thought I would get some pictures of the damage on our property from the storm. The first picture here is the side of our property just before getting to our driveway. There is the last little bit of snow just under a tree that fell into the road.

Welcome to Hodgepodge Acres... To the left - our new Canyon that developed at the bottom of the driveway from all the water run off. Seth now wants to study erosion!
And (above) a picture of our new archway as you come up the driveway! Ok - it is now gone - but I REALLY wanted to find a way to hang a sign saying Welcome or Hodgepodge Acres from it!

Our gravenstein apple tree that was one of the first victims of the storm. The weight of the snow was just too much for it. The roots were still in the ground so Dennis has up-righted it and trimmed the branches. Now we wait and see if maybe just maybe it survives.

The swing-set was hit by a couple of trees. The slide section was here when we moved her 12+ years ago, Dennis added the swings. Looks like it is time for Seth and Dad to have a Father/Son project sometime this spring!

In this picture you can see at least four root balls from fallen trees. Guess Dennis knows where to go to work on next years firewood.

To the left is a picture of a chicken that is making a break for it from the pen she belongs in to the pen next door. Nothing to slow her down at this point. Getting chicken pens fixed is pretty high on the list.
To the right is just part of the mess that has developed in/on/around Dennis' secondary wood pile.
"Boys and their Toys!!!"

And the clean-up begins! As soon as Dennis was able to get out and start on the clean-up his chainsaw looked around and decided it was too much for it. And that was the end of his 12+year old chainsaw. Once he found the time to go in and get the new one he has had his eye on he found they were shipped from Chehalis, WA and as such on the other side of the I-5 closure! Finally yesterday they had what he wanted in stock. He decided to work a split-shift so he could be home during some daylight hours and get going on all the clean-up that has been staring at him! Among the clean up was our lovely arch-way over the driveway. Kind of sad - it was fun in a way. But I am sure that Mark, our UPS driver, will be glad to see it gone next time he comes.
